The News Never Stops. Neither Does the Noise in Our Heads.

I opened my phone this morning for "just two minutes".

Forty minutes later, I was still scrolling.

War. Prices. Climate. Layoffs. Someone's perfect holiday. Someone else's loss.

Nothing in my own day had changed. But my body felt heavy, like I had been carrying all of it. I have been noticing this in myself. And I have been noticing it around me.

We are the first generation that gets the whole world's worry delivered to our palm,

every minute.

The mind was never made to hold so much at once.

So what do I do when the noise is too loud?

I do not try to stop the world. I cannot.

I pick up a pencil, a brush, a piece of clay. Anything.

And I make one small mark. Then another.

No plan. No "good". Just the hand moving and the breath slowing.

Somewhere in that, I come back to the room I am sitting in.

Art does not fix the news. But it gives me a place to put down what I picked up.

I found this teacher as art therapy.

And I am grateful for it.

If you feel worn out by news, try this for five minutes tonight: keep your phone in another room, take any paper and colour, and draw only lines that match how your body feels right now. Not the news. Your body. Then look at it, and put it away. If the heaviness stays for weeks, talking to a professional is a good next step.
